Collagen is the most abundant protein found in the human body.
It is the glue by which our bodies are held together. It is responsible for a laundry list of benefits beyond the improvements in the health of hair, skin, and nails. It improves the density of bones, protects cardiovascular health, relieves joint pain, speeds up recovery from injury, helps build lean muscle mass, and increases the strength and elasticity of connective tissues such as ligaments, tendons, and cartilage.
Starting as early as 25-30 years old, the natural production and quality of collagen begin to decrease. For example, by age 50, we have lost ~25% of the collagen in our skin, and ~50% by age 75. Fortunately, with a healthy diet and/or supplementation you can see improvements throughout the body to help look and feel younger.
