I've been wanting to try these for a long time and finally decided to buy one of each flavor.
The good:
The list of ingredients is short and full of healthy stuff that is REAL food, not fake stuff and fake flavors you can't pronounce. They are also very light weight. You can throw a few of them in your pack and hardly notice. Some of the flavors are quite delicious.
The not-so-good:
These are really small. I didn't feel full with one...or two. These honestly should be sold at least in 2-packs or 3 packs to be worthwhile. They're also very dry, so you better have some water left on your hike to help get them down.
Flavor reviews:
Let's be clear, the flavor of each of these is C-O-C-O-N-U-T with a little something added. They're all very coconut-flavored because they are almost completely made of coconut. The flavors I expected to be the best were underwhelming (like chocolate mint...it's still just a lot of coconut and didn't fill my desire for chocolate or mint). Then some of the more interesting ones were actually fantastic. Orange Vanilla was my favorite. Black Espresso was nice too. To be clear, they're all yummy, but I didn't expect such a coconut-forward flavor profile.
Summary:
I'll probably get more, but I definitely don't feel this is the "snack of all snacks" for me. I've first heard about these from the Wildnerness Athlete crew, hunters, and outdoor fitness people. Contrary to my expectations, these are actually the kind of snack I want at my office to hold me over until a healthier meal, but on the mountain when I'm really working out hard, these are not hefty enough for me to rely on.
